A great new CD from a band from piedmont North Carolina, playing tunes with a feeling somewhere between the organic funk of old time, and the soulful sophistication of bluegrass. Buffalo Creek Stringband is fronted by two great female harmony vocals, singing traditional old-timey country tunes. Think early Hazel and Alice with a heavy dose of Carter Family, Ola Belle Reed and Kitty Wells. This CD includes a healthy mix of vintage Carter-Country, Fiddle tunes, Vern-grass, and Hillbilly blues.
